Dorothy Ann Hord Stoll, age 97, of Tebbetts, passed away Wednesday, November 6, 2013, at Jefferson City Manor. Dorothy was born January 28, 1916, in Tebbetts, to Elliot E. and Nell (Sentman) Hord. On December 23, 1934, she married Herbert O. Stoll in Mexico, Missouri. He preceded her in death. Dorothy graduated from Jefferson City High School in 1934. In 1957 Dorothy went to work at Employment Security as a clerk. She transferred to an accounting position at Missouri Correctional Center for Women. Her many responsibilities included inmate records, purchasing supplies, transportation officer, and inmate discharge paperwork. She served as Acting Superintendent for three years. Dorothy was a member of the Tebbetts United Methodist Church since November 11, 1927 where she enjoyed teaching Sunday School and serving as a Lay Leader. She was active in the Tebbetts and Mokane United Methodist Women and served as president of Tebbetts UMW and Social Action Chairman for the Columbia, Mexico District. She continued participating in church and community activities through the age of 90. Survivors include: one brother, David Hord (Vivian); one sister, Martha Shiverdecker; one daughter, Peggy Smart; six grandchildren: Greg Smart (Judy Cain), Jayne Dunkmann (Jim), Judy Gehrke (Joe Martin), Jeff Phillips (Michelle), Michelle Alford (Wally), and Randy Phillips (Michele); 14 great-grandchildren, Melissa Vineyard (Joey), Matthew Smart (Heather Reven), Ryan Gehrke (Heather), Joshua Smart (Adrean), Whitney Colvin, Kaleb Smart (Amber), Andi Gehrke, Morgan Gehrke, Madeline Dunkmann, Kaitlyn Phillips, Jonie Hall (Harry), Evan Phillips (Brittney), Myranda Alford, and Jaymee Alford; and six great-great-grandchildren: Kaitlyn Smart, Raegan Smart, Braeden Vineyard, Delaney Smart, Kinley Gehrke, Olivia Smart. She was preceded in death by: parents, Elliot and Nell Hord; husband, Herbert Stoll; daughter, DiAnne Phillips; sisters, Elsie Clay and Becky Turner; and a brother, George Hord who was killed in World War II. Relatives and friends are welcome for visitation at 2:00 p.m., with funeral services at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 9 at Tebbetts United Methodist Church with Pastor Pati Tynes officiating. Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery in Tebbetts.
