Alfred J. Cassmeyer

Alfred J. Cassmeyer, 82, of Fulton, passed away on Monday, November 4, 2013, at Boone Hospital Center. He was born December 15, 1930, in Folk, Mo., the son of the late Arthur Cassmeyer and the late Mamie (Brester) Cassmeyer. On May 25, 1957, he was united in marriage to Helen (Berhorst) Cassmeyer who survives at their home. Al was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church in Fulton. He was also a member of Knights of Columbus and Veterans of Foreign Wars of Fulton. Al proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps from 1951-1952. For many years, he owned Cassmeyer Appliance Service. In his spare time, Al enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing cards, and checking cattle on the four-wheeler. He found the most enjoyment in time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren. Those remaining to cherish his memory include his wife of 56 years, Helen; children, Janet Fischer (Roger) of Fulton, Dennis Cassmeyer of Fulton, Ruthie Maupin of Fulton, Diane Cassmeyer (Karl) of Columbia, Debbie Salmons (Greg) of Fulton, Bob Cassmeyer of Dallas, Texas, Gail Cassmeyer (Dan) of Jefferson City, and Alan Cassmeyer of Fulton; grandchildren, Lindsay Cassmeyer (Jared), Steven Maupin, Keith Cassmeyer, Megan Maupin, Brice Fischer (Janelle), Ryan Salmons, Adam Fischer, Morgan Salmons, Alex Schweikert, Karsen Schweikert, Eric Schweikert, and Justin Dampf; great-grandchildren, Taylor Shiverdecker, Reed Derenzy, Evie Fischer, Grant Derenzy, Ryder Dampf, and Savannah Dampf; sister, Erma VanLoo; sister-in-law, Viola Cassmeyer; and numerous nieces and nephews. Al was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Loyd Cassmeyer; brother-in-law, Clifford VanLoo. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, November 8, 2013, at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Fulton with Father Frank Bussmann officiating. Friends will be received on Thursday, November 7, 2013, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. with Prayer Service at 8:00 p.m. at Maupin Funeral Home. Interment with Military Honors will be held at Callaway Memorial Gardens.
