Thomas J. Howard

Thomas J. Howard, 95, of California, entered into rest on Friday, May 24, 2013, at the Moniteau Care Center in California. He was born on September 30, 1917, in Moniteau County, the son of Eugene and Mollie (Woods) Howard. Mr. Howard was a veteran of World War II, having served with the Army Corp. of Engineers for four and one-half years including 18 months overseas. He was a charter member of Main Street Baptist Church. He was also a member of AARP and the Sunshine Club of First Baptist Church. He was united in marriage on May 9, 1981, to Marjorie Herndon Smith, who survives of the home. Other survivors include one brother, Cecil Howard of Jefferson City, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one brother, Jesse Howard; and three sisters, Ruth Elliott, Mattie McFarland and Alma Palmer. Funeral Services will be Tuesday, May 28, 2013, at 11:00 a.m. at the Mainstreet Baptist Church. Officiating will be the Rev. Eddie Shoeneberg assisted by Mr. Jack Bowlin. Burial with military honors will be at the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10-11:00 a.m., Tuesday, May 28, 2013, at the church. Memorials are suggested to the Main Street Baptist Church, c/o Bowlin-Cantriel Funeral Services, 100 S. Oak St. California, MO 65018. Arrangements are under the direction of Bowlin-Cantriel Funeral Services, California.
