Viola Rosemarie Johnson, 90, of Jefferson City, passed away Monday, December 30, 2013, at St. Mary's Health Center. She was born February 18, 1923, in Jefferson City, the daughter of the late Joseph and Elizabeth (Lock) Struempf. She was united in marriage on October 18, 1952, in Jefferson City to Charles Fred Johnson who preceded her in death on November 6, 1991. A resident of Jefferson City most of her life, Mrs. Johnson also had lived in Littleton, Colorado; Ballwin, Missouri; and East Lansing, Michigan. A homemaker, Mrs. Johnson also had worked as a secretary for the Missouri State Highway Department, Missouri State Highway Patrol Troop F, Missouri State Legislature General Assembly, and with the Postal Inspector. She was a member of the Cathedral of St. Joseph where she was active in church activities including the Women's Parish Association; St. Mary's Health Center Auxiliary; and the American Legion Auxiliary Post 5. She enjoyed the St. Louis Cardinals, traveling to the Lake of the Ozarks, and especially loved her grandchildren. Survivors include: two children, Robert (Deanna) Johnson, Jefferson City; Laurie (Wade) Orr, Jefferson City; four grandchildren, Thomas Christopher (Sherri) Smith, Joshua Orr, Jennifer Orr (Kyle) Doll, Joseph Orr; five great-grandchildren, Matthew Smith, Lauren Smith, Nathan Doll, Leah Doll, Parker Orr; one great-great-granddaughter, Laykin Smith; and one sister, Lorie Forck, Mexico, Mo. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Mary Bassmann and four brothers, Herbert, Francis, Arthur, and Nelson Struempf. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Friday, January 3, 2013, at the Cathedral of St. Joseph. Entombment will be in Resurrection Mausoleum. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Thursday at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home with a prayer service at 7 p.m. Memorials are suggested to the Samaritan Center, 1310 East McCarty Street, Jefferson City, Mo 65101.
