Richard Robert Hutcherson

Dr. Richard Robert Hutcherson, 63, of Jefferson City, died Friday, December 20, 2013, at his residence. He was born on December 3, 1950, in Washington, Missouri, the son of Robert Newton and Kathleen M. Hirsch Hutcherson. He was married on May 27, 1973, in Jonesburg, Missouri, to Marilyn Gayle Allen who survives at the home. A 1969 graduate of Montgomery County R-2 High School, he received a Bachelor of Science degree and Master of Arts degree from Northeast Missouri State University, and a Specialist degree and Doctor of Education degree from the University of Missouri. Dr. Hutcherson retired in 2003, as Special Education Coordinator with the Missouri Department of Education where he had been employed for 20 years. Following retirement he was a real estate entrepreneur. He was a licensed private pilot; motorcycle and scuba diving enthusiast; enjoyed gardening and beekeeping; and had a great passion for learning. Other survivors include his mother, Kathleen Hutcherson, St. Louis; one son, Dr. Timothy C. Hutcherson, Buffalo, New York; two brothers, Michael Hutcherson, Jonesburg, Missouri; and Steven (Glinda) Hutcherson, Warrenton, Missouri; and two sisters, Kathleen Hutcherson, St. Louis; and Mary Armstrong, St. Louis. Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, December 27, 2013, at First Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Drs. David Henry and Rob Erickson officiating.
