Dean Elliott, 75, of California, passed away on Tuesday, December 17, 2013, at his home. He was born on January 22, 1938, in Moniteau County, the son of Brent and Ruth (Howard) Elliott, both of whom preceded him in death. Dean worked for Ralston Purina for many years, and was a self employed mechanic, union painter, owned Sinclair Station in California, and also sold fuel, tires, and parts for 10 years at local race tracks. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, but most of all, sprint car racing. He loved spending time watching sprint car races, and racing all over the Midwest. Dean was a member of the Main Street Baptist Church. He is survived by two sons: Rick Elliott and wife Mary of Tipton, and Darryl Elliott and wife Rhonda of California; five grandchildren: Alyssa, Kayla, Travis, Ryan, and Tyler Elliott; and one special loving friend, Linda Hayes of California. He was preceded in death by two brothers: Keith and Vernon Elliott. Funeral Services will be on Friday, December 20, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Bowlin-Cantriel Funeral Home in California. Officiating will be the Rev. Ken Mathes. Interment will be at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery near Clarksburg. Visitation will be on Thursday, December 19, 2013 from 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the Double X Race Kids of the Night, c/o Bowlin-Cantriel Funeral Service. Arrangements are under the direction of Bowlin-Cantriel Funeral Services, California.
