James A. Russell Jr.

Mr. James A. Russell Jr., age 95 years, of Jefferson City, Mo., died Saturday, November 30, 2013, at St. Mary's Health Center. James was born June 7, 1918, in Somerset, Kansas, the son of James A. Sr and Cloie P. Lay Russell. He was married on October 21, 1939, in Kansas City, Mo. to Eloise D. Jordan who preceded him in death on May 22, 2004. He graduated from Paola High School, Paola, Kansas. A resident of the Jefferson City area since 1980, James was employed with the Phillips Petroleum Pipeline Company from 1941 until his retirement as a supervisor in 1980. James was a 70 year member of the Masonic Lodge, A.F. & A.M. in Paola, Kansas. He was also a member of the Scottish Rite and the Moolah Temple in St. Louis, Mo. where he was a Captain with the Moolah Mounted Lancers. Survivors include: two daughters, Martha A. Hervey and her husband Tom of Columbia, Mo. and Sue Hurtado of Jefferson City, Mo.; three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, four brothers, and one sister. Private graveside services and interment will be conducted at the Memorial Park Cemetery in Columbia, Mo. at a later time. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Shriners Childrens Hospital, 2001 South Lindbergh Blvd., St. Louis, MO 63131.
