Wayne McCubbin

Wayne McCubbin, age 83, formerly of Iberia and Jefferson City, passed away on Monday, August 19, 2013, at his home. He was born in Miller County on December 24, 1929, son of the late Leonard and Thelma (Forester) McCubbin. In December of 1953, Wayne married Vera Irene Lewis. On August 11, 1979, in Jefferson City, Wayne married Dorothy Jean Robinett, who preceded him in death on October 10, 1991. Wayne served in the Korean War and was honorably discharged from the United States Army. He retired from Central Dairy and was recently employed at Scholastics in Jefferson City. He enjoyed his job at both locations. Wayne also owned and operated McCubbin Trailer Court and Sales in Jefferson City. There were two sets of twins in Wayne's family including him and his brother Wade. Wayne was very generous and loved traveling and visiting with family. He was a member of Jefferson City Church of Christ. He is survived by one son, Denny McCubbin and wife Dorothy of Holts Summit; two daughters, Glenda Bremer and husband Terry of Wentzville and Gloria Kennedy and husband Charlie of Scottsbluff, Nebraska; five grandchildren, Kevin McCubbin and wife Trisha of Holts Summit, Keith McCubbin and wife Madeline of Springfield; Tricia Bremer of Cape Girardeau, Cassandra Bremer of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, and Alena Kennedy of Scottsbluff, Nebraska; one great-granddaughter, Mya Lynn McCubbin of Springfield; three brothers, Norman McCubbin of Eugene, Wade McCubbin of Iberia, Donald McCubbin of Iberia; five sisters, Martha Jean Fletcher of Holts Summit, Lorene Woods of Jefferson City, Eula Mae Rustemeyer of Jefferson City, Lora Lee Barlow of Iberia, and Darlene Groff of Iberia, and several nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., with services immediately following at 1 p.m. on Friday, August 23, at Fancher-Rekus Funeral Home in Iberia. Rick Yoder will officiate. Interment with military honors will be in Hawkins Cemetery near Iberia. Memorial contributions are suggested to the American Cancer Society.
