Rondal J. "Ron" Shipman, age 80, of Jefferson City, Mo., died Tuesday, August 20, 2013, at Capital Region Medical Center. Ron was born June 6, 1933, in Jefferson City, Mo., the son of Herman and Blanche Green Shipman. He was married on June 21, 1952, in Mary's Home, Mo., to Anna L. Hart. A lifelong resident of the Central Missouri area, Ron was a 1951 graduate of Eugene High School and attended electronics school in Pueblo, Colo. He served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He owned and operated Ron's T.V. and Sound for over 30 years prior to his retirement in 1994. Ron was a member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles, Aerie 2693 and the Knights of Columbus. He was an avid sports fan who enjoyed the outdoors. Most importantly, he enjoyed spending time with his family. Survivors include: his wife of 61 years, Anna Shipman; one daughter, Cynthia Tichelkamp and her husband Neal of Jefferson City, Mo.; one brother, Robert Shipman and his wife Anna May of Eugene, Mo.; one sister, Linda Fosberg and her husband Don of Belton, Mo.; four grandchildren, Shannon Kempker and his wife Tina of Jefferson City, Mo., Ericia Leeper and her husband Jed of Jefferson City, Mo., Kate Tichelkamp of Williams, Ariz., and Craig Tichelkamp and his partner David Lankford of Cambridge, Mass.; and five great-grandchildren, Quin Kempker, Eilee Kempker, Race McCulloch, Laney McCulloch and Nora Leeper, all of Jefferson City, Mo. He was preceded in death by his parents; his mother and father-in-law, Frieda and Harim Hart; and three brothers-in-law, Wilburn Hart, Norman Hart and H.I. Hart. Visitation will be at Freeman Mortuary from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m., Thursday, August 22, 2013. Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 a.m., Friday, August 23, 2013, in the Freeman Chapel with the Reverend Anthony Rinaldo officiating. Graveside services and entombment with military honors will be conducted in the Mausoleum of Resurrection Cemetery.
