Geraldine "Geri" Phillips Gilpin, age 77, of Jefferson City, Mo., passed away on Tuesday August 5, 2013. Geri was born on May 3, 1936, in Fredricktown, Mo., the daughter of the late Dewey and Thelma (Roe) Phillips. Geri worked as a medical assistant in Springfield, Mo. and as an employee of Hy-Vee Grocery Store in the Deli while in Jefferson City. She is survived by one son, David Gilpin and wife Donna, South Lake Tahoe, Calif.; one daughter, Shawna Simpson, Moberly, Mo.; one granddaughter, Jacqui Gilpin; four sisters, Shirley Hicks, Jefferson City, Mo., Carol Miller, Joplin, Mo., Kay Baugh, Joplin, Mo. and Judy Phillips, Camdenton, Mo.; two brothers, Joe Phillips, Columbia, Mo., and Frank Phillips, New Bloomfield, Mo.; and numerous nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by one son, Lonnie Grey; one sister, Pamela Muffi, and two nephews. Graveside services will be 1:00 p.m. Monday, at Forest Park Cemetery in Joplin, Mo. James B. Lankford, Minister, will officiate. The visitation will be at 12:00 p.m. Monday prior to service time. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be given to the American Cancer Society in care of the mortuary. Arrangements are under the direction of Mason-Woodard Mortuary & Crematory in Joplin, Mo.
