Melissa Jane Nilges, 51, of Holts Summit, passed away Sunday, April 28, 2013, at her home. She was born December 17, 1961, in Jefferson City, the daughter of the late Lorne and Beverly (Stone) Irvin. On March 9, 2002, she was united in marriage to Steve Nilges, and he survives at the home. Melissa was employed with Luebbering Oil Company. She was also employed with Scholastics and owned her own cleaning business. Melissa enjoyed watching TV, especially the DIY channel and CSI. She enjoyed camping, going to the lake and crappie fishing, going to the beach and just sitting outside and enjoying the sun. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. Survivors include one daughter: Sunny Rae Kingsley of Lee Summit; two step-daughters: Amanda Nilges of Jefferson City and Jennifer Nilges of Madrid, Spain; one brother: Gregory Irvin (Nedra) of Louisburg, Kan.; three grandchildren: Myah, Xzavier and Kadence; father-in-law: Albert Nilges of Jefferson City; mother-in-law: Patricia T. Bracher of Tebbetts; brother-in-laws: Michael D. Nilges (Angela) of Jefferson City and Jeffrey L. Nilges (Candy) of Hallsville; and one nephew: Blaine. She was preceded in death by step father-in-law: Darrell L. Bracher. Friends will be received from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., Friday, May 3, 2013, at the Houser-Millard Funeral Home with a memorial service to follow at 6:00 p.m. with Rev. Paul Deutsch officiating.
