Melvin Ray Walker, 62, of Jefferson City, passed away, Friday, April 5, 2013, in North Carolina. He was born in Wake County, North Carolina, to the late Bennie Walker and Flora (Faulkner) Walker. He was united in marriage on May 19, 1973, in Jefferson City, to Mary Lou Fuller who survives. Mr. Walker, first class sergeant, served in the United States Army during the Vietnam Era. Mr. Walker retired from the Missouri National Guard having worked in Logistics. He was a member of Calvary Assembly of God Church and a former member of the American Legion. Mr. Walker is survived by his wife of 40 years, Mary Fuller Walker; three daughters, Angela (Jacob) Hammen, Zenetta Walker, Jessica Walker, all of Jefferson City; five siblings, Mary Ann Lowery, Youngsville, N.C., Jimmy (Mel) Walker, Youngsville, N.C., Toka Faye (Joe) Bishop, Kittrell, N.C., Lillie (James) Garrett, Henderson, N.C., and Johnnie (Shirley) Walker, Ga.; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Norma Helen and Calvin Clifford Fuller, Jefferson City; numerous nieces, nephews and extended family. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Bennie Walker Jr., Charles Walker and Fuzzy Walker. Funeral services will be 10 a.m., Thursday, April 11, 2013, at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home with the Rev. Jeff Higbie officiating. Burial with military honors will be in Hawthorn Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m., Wednesday, at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home. Memorials are suggested to the wishes of the family.
