Mamie C. Duncan

Mrs. Mamie C. Duncan, age 100 years, of Jefferson City, Mo., died Wednesday, October 24, 2012, at Heisinger Bluffs. Mamie was born May 14, 1912, in Henley, Mo., the daughter of Joseph C. and Rosa Jefferies Kroeger. She was married to Herbert Earl Duncan who preceded her in death on July 16, 1975. A life-long resident of the Central Missouri area, Mamie graduated from Waterloo School in Cole County. Mamie was employed with the International Shoe Factory for many years. She was the only female foreman in the history of the factory. She enjoyed gardening, especially her flowers, and working in the yard. She was also an excellent quilter, giving many of her quilts to family and friends. Her life was celebrated on May 14, 2012, her 100th birthday, with a gathering of family and friends. Mamie was always an important part of the large happy family. Survivors include: one son, Bill E. Duncan and his wife Myrene of Jefferson City, Mo.; one brother, Elmer Kroeger of Kingman, Arizona; six grandchildren, Lea Morris and her husband David, David Englehart and his wife Jodie, Neal Englehart and his wife Debbie, Paul Englehart, Diann Goins and her husband John, and Julie Brown; and five great- grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and one brother, Joseph Kroeger. A private family gathering and interment will be held at the Hickory Hill Cemetery, Hickory Hill, Mo. at a later date.
