Charles Edward Golden, 62, of Eugene, Mo., died Thursday, October 25, 2012, at his home surrounded by his family. He was born on November 3, 1949, in Jefferson City, the son of the late Leonard and Vessie Catherine (Barnhart) Golden. He was united in marriage on November 2, 1996, in Henley, Mo., to Glenna Sue Newton who resides at the home. A 1968 graduate of Jefferson City High School, Charles worked for the Missouri Office of Administration as a security officer for three years; Missouri Highway Patrol Building and Grounds maintenance for three years; and the Missouri Department of Corrections at the Missouri State Penitentiary as a cook for many years. Charles was a federally licensed Amateur Radio operator holding call sign NÿROK. He was a member and former board member of the MID-MO Amateur Radio Club; Amateur Radio Emergency Service; Skywarn Weather Spotting; and the Spring Valley Baptist Church. He also enjoyed collecting miniature antique cars, swords, and daggers; NASCAR; fishing, hunting, and camping. Other survivors include: one daughter, Mishelle Golden, Jefferson City; two step-sons, Shawn (Rita) Reno, and Terry Purlee, all of New Bloomfield, Mo.; one step-daughter, Jamie Volkart, Eldon, Mo.; one granddaughter, Saharra Webb; four step-grandchildren, Ashley Reno, Nathan Reno, Jayla Volkart, and Ella Volkart; and two sisters, Susan Golden and Alice Bilbrey, both of Jefferson City. He was preceded in death by a son, Vernon Scott "Scottie" Golden; and one sister, Janet Ross. Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, October 31, 2012, at Spring Valley Baptist Church, Henley, Mo., with Pastor Dean Waters officiating. Burial will be in Hawthorn Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Tuesday, October 30th, at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home. Memorials are suggested to the MID-MO Amateur Radio Club in care of Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home, 3210 N.
