Brenda Lea Opel, 53, of Lone Elm, Mo., passed away on Wednesday, November 28, 2012, at University of Missouri Hospital in Columbia, Mo. She was born on July 10, 1959, in Chandler, Ariz., on Williams Air Force Base to Sylvan Frank and Wilma Lorene (Seyfert) Opel. She was a 1977 graduate of California High School and a 1979 graduate of State Fair Community College in Sedalia. She was a member of St. Paulís Lutheran Church in California, Mo. She was employed as a Graphic Artist by the California Democrat for several years. She was a very kind, loving person who will be greatly missed. She is survived by two brothers, David Lee and wife Debbie Opel of California, Mo., and Alan Wayne Opel of Lees Summit, Mo.; and personal companion Steven Wieland of Lone Elm, Mo. She is also survived by several relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by both parents, Sylvan Frank and Wilma Lorene (Seyfert) Opel; legal guardians, Lawrence and Mildred Maier; and several aunts and uncles. Visitation will be held on Monday, December 3, 2012, from 9:00 a.m. ñ 11:00 a.m., with funeral services following at 11:00 a.m., at St. Paulís Lutheran Church in California, Mo. Burial will be in California City Cemetery. Officiating will be Pastor Peter Kurowski and Rev. Paul Weisenborn. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to either St. Paulís Lutheran Church or Zion Lutheran Church, c/o Bowlin-Cantriel Funeral Services, 100 S. Oak, California, Mo. 65018.
