Jack Dempsey Gross, age 64, of Milton, Fla., passed away Saturday, November 24, 2012. He was born August 18, 1948, in Stuttgart, Germany to Martha Abele Gross and the late David Gross. Jack was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and retired from the Missouri Department of Transportation in 2000. He was a karate instructor, he taught women self-defense classes, was a certified dive master, enjoyed boating and hanging out with friends. Survivors include the love of his life, his wife, Michelle Gross; his mother, Martha Gross of Kansas City, Mo.; a son, Shane (Jennifer) Gross of Wesley Chapel, Fla.; a daughter, Tameria (Ken) Ewers of Jefferson City, Mo.; a step-son, Levi (Shaunda) Bax of Godley, Texas; a step-daughter, Christina Bax of Milton, Fla.; a brother, Mike (Melynda) Gross of New Braunfels, Texas; three sisters, Carol (Mike) Heflin of Kansas City, Mo., Tanya Powell of Jefferson City, Mo., and Cherie Copeland of San Antonio, Texas; and seven grandchildren. Besides his father, he was preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy Delaney. Funeral services will be Friday, November 30, 2012 at 12 noon at the Chapel of National Cremation & Burial Society with Mr. Joey Davis officiating. Interment will follow in Barrancas National Cemetery with military honors. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 11 a.m. until the service hour. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Covenant Hospice or the American Cancer Society. National Cremation & Burial Society of Milton has been entrusted with the arrangements.
