Iona Mae Beck, 88, of Frankenstein, passed away Sunday, November 25, 2012, at Jefferson City Nursing and Rehab. She was born April 3, 1924, in Kansas City, Kansas, the daughter of the late Henry R. and Kathryn (Arens) Koenigsfeld. Iona was diagnosed with Polio at the age of six months and after multiple operations she was able to graduate Frankenstein High School at the age of 20. She was employed with Montgomery Wards, GMAC, and most recently with Sears where she worked for over 29 years. She enjoyed playing the piano and was a member of the musicians union. She also was very artistic, enjoying painting and drawing. Iona also helped raise her nephew Doug as a son from 12 years old on and also throughout college. She is survived by one brother: Bob Koenigsfeld of Frankenstein; eight nieces and nephews: David Koenigsfeld (wife Tina) of Rocky Mount, Doug Koenigsfeld (wife Julie) of Jefferson City, Lisa Turner of Jefferson City, Robin Stark (husband Matt) of Wright City, Robert Koenigsfeld (wife Courtney) of Jefferson City, Jodi Cooper of Jefferson City, David Cooper of Las Vegas and Kenny Cooper of Page, Arizona. She was preceded in death by one nephew: Dennis Koenigsfeld. Friends will be received from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 28, 2012, at the Millard Family Funeral Chapel Linn. Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, November 29, 2012, at Our Lady Help of Christians Catholic Church, Frankenstein with Fr. John Schmitz officiating. Interment will follow in Hawthorn Memorial Gardens. Expressions of sympathy may be made to Our Lady Help of Christians Catholic Church.
