John L. Glover

ev. John L. Glover, age 87, of Jefferson City, died Wednesday, May 16, 2012, at St. Joseph's Bluffs in Jefferson City. He was born May 6, 1925, in Cave Springs, Arkansas, the only child of Lester Newton and Maureen Collier Glover. On July 13, 1947, in Ponca City, Oklahoma, John was united in marriage to Bonnie Janelle Ford. After 60 years of marriage, Janelle preceded him in death on October 26, 2007. He was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving his country in World War II. Bro. John, as he was fondly known, was called into the ministry as a young man, obtaining his Master's in Divinity. Throughout his career, he preached in Southern Baptist Churches in Amarillo, Texas, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and several churches throughout Central Missouri. Even in his retirement, he served as interim pastor for numerous churches in the Jefferson City area, preaching as recently as six months ago. He was a faithful member of the Cornerstone Baptist Church in Jefferson City, where he enjoyed leading an occasional Bible study and most of all the fellowship with the other members of the church. Survivors include four sons and daughters-in-law, Kyle and Debbie Glover, St. Peters, Missouri; Robin and Debbie Glover, Cedar Rapids, Iowa; Tim and Hope Glover, Kent, Washington and Johnny and Kim Glover, Corpus Christi, Texas; eight grandchildren, Mark, Matthew, Annie, Collin, Andrew, Stephanie, Joel and Emma; six great-grandchildren, Ty, Brady, Caitlyn, Logan, Jackson and Kaylee, along with other relatives and many friends. Funeral services will be 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 22, at the Cornerstone Baptist Church located at 4930 Old Lohman Road in Jefferson City, with Bro Brian Credille officiating. Interment, with military honors, will be in the Enloe Cemetery west of Russellville. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. - 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 22, at the Cornerstone Baptist Church.
