Kenneth "Ken" Russell Maharas, age 45, of Russellville, died Tuesday night, June 12, 2012, at California Care Center. He was born December 4, 1966, in Dearborn, Michigan, a son of Francis "Frank" and Eleanor "Penny" Pokrzywincki Maharas, who preceded him in death. On March 28, 1992, at the Corticelli Baptist Church in Russellville, Ken was united in marriage to Devona A. Shikles, daughter of Darvin and Rosalee Shikles. To this union two children, Collin and Bella were born. Ken served his county in the United States Air Force from 1985-1993. Ken grew up in South-gate, Michigan, making central Missouri his home following his discharge from the military. He was employed as a technician with IKON in Jefferson City. He attended the Corticelli Baptist Church and served as Cub Scout Leader for Pack 96 in Russellville until his health failed him. He enjoyed camping, fishing, but most of all being with his family, where he was the official lighter at the Shikles annual 4th of July fireworks display. Survivors include his wife, Devona of the home; three children, Kenneth R. Maharas II of Texas; and Collin R. and Annabella Marie "Bella" Maharas of the home; one brother and sister-in-law, Frank and Kathy Maharas of Lincoln Park, Michigan; three sisters, Sue Maharas, Dawn Maharas and Karen Maharas all of Southgate, Michigan; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Darvin and Rosalee Shikles, a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Tim and Roberta Shikles and a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Darla and Ryan Hickey all of Russellville; along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 16, at the Corticelli Baptist Church west of Russellville with Rev. Dale Larison and Dr. Rick Seaton officiating. Interment, with military honors, will be in the Enloe Cemetery west of Russellville. The family will receive friends from 4:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. Friday, June 15, at the Scrivner-Morrow Funeral Home in Russellville. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Maharas children's education fund.
