Nellie Nichols

Nellie M. Cain Nichols, age 97, of Butler, Mo., passed on to be with the Lord Saturday, January 7, 2012, at Bates County Memorial Hospital in Butler, Mo. Nellie was born October 11, 1914, in Jefferson City, Mo., the daughter of James F. Caine and Ida Mae Koffkey Cain. She was the oldest of seven children. Nellie was married to Hubert Faye Nichols on February 15, 1936, in Jefferson City, Mo. and he preceded her in death. A son was born to the union, James Preston Nichols, on July 30, 1939. Survivors include: daughter-in-law, Patricia E. Nichols of Adrian, Mo.; grandchildren (James P. Nichols), James P. Nichols Jr. of Texas, Aimee L. Dryden (Jim) Adrian, Mo., Angeline M. Preston (Josh), Adrian, Mo.; stepson, Ronald D. Nichols, wife Leona of Columbia; grandchildren, Gene Nichols of Columbia, Mo., Richard Nichols of Columbia, Mo., Lori Rice (Robert) of Hallsville, Mo., David Nichols of Ashland, Mo.; multiple great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews; siblings, Marjorie Isaak of Jefferson City, Mo. Geneva Pearre of Jefferson City, Mo., Curtis P. Cain (JoAnn) of Ashland, Mo.; sisters-in-law, Ada Cain, wife of Floyde E. (Ed) Cain (deceased) and Sarah Cain, wife of James (Bus) Cain (deceased). Nellie was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son, brothers and her sister, Mildred (Mitch) Lawson. Funeral services will be held at Robinson Funeral Home on Wednesday, January 11, 2012, at 11 a.m. Officiating will be Pastor Paul Burhart of Adrian Christian Chapel, Adrian, Mo. Burial will follow at New Salem Cemetery in Ashland. Visitation will be on Tuesday, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
