Billy R. Sterling

Billy R. Sterling , 84, of Tipton, passed away Friday, April 20, 2012, at Good Shepherd Care Center in Versailles. Mr. Sterling was born June 8, 1927, in California, to Lloyd and Linnie Vaughn Sterling. He was married June 30, 1951, to Mary Barbara Garber in Tipton, who survives. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Tipton. He worked at the phone company in Tipton area until his retirement. He was a charter member of the Tipton Country Club. He enjoyed fishing, playing golf, and traveling in his motor home. He loved the Missouri Tiger basketball and sprint car racing. He ran Sterling Saw Sharpening Service. He enjoyed traveling to Mesa, Ariz. during the winter months. Survivors include: his wife, Mary, of Good Shepherd Care Center; one daughter, June (Jim) Nivens of Tipton; one grandson, David (Sara) Nivens of Columbia; one granddaughter, Nana (Matthew) Prange of Marilyn Heights; three great- grandchildren, Owen Prange, Sterling and Audrey Nivens; one brother, Mike (Donna) Sterling of California. Memorial services for Mr. Sterling will be Saturday, April 28, 2012, at 11:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in Tipton. Visitation will be Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until time of service at First Baptist Church in Tipton. Memorials are suggested to the church or The Central Missouri Food Bank for the Buddy Pack Program.
