Norma Miller

Mrs. Norma Lee Miller, age 91 years, of Jefferson City, Mo., passed away Tuesday, December 6, 2011, at Capital Region Medical Center. She was born on October 11, 1920, in Los Banos, Calif., the daughter of Grover and Ruby Bailey Wilson. A lifelong resident of the central Missouri area, Norma graduated from Lancaster High School in 1938, and from Kirksville State Teachers College in 1942. After graduation she taught school at Lancaster High School for four years. She was employed as Manager with the Missouri Department of Revenue License Bureau. She was a member of First Christian Church, Cole County Board of Visitors, Juvenile Attention Center Board, Kapital Kicks, Three Rivers Regional Library, Jefferson City Parking and Traffic Authority, Historical Society, Heart of Humane Society, Sigma Sigma Sigma Social Sorority, Little Theater, Charles E. Still Hospital Guild, Learning in Retirement, a past treasurer of City Committee, served two terms on the Cole County Democratic Committee, and two terms on the Democratic State Committee. Norma enjoyed playing the piano, going antiquing, and politics. But most importantly, she enjoyed spending time with her family. Survivors include: three sons, Chris Miller of Jefferson City, Mo., Marc Miller and his wife Kathy of Jefferson City, Mo., and Matt Miller and his wife Chris of Eldon, Mo.; one sister, Betty Houston and her husband James of Jefferson City, Mo.; one sister-in-law, Velma Wilson of Carefree, Ariz., and her daughter Jackie Frantz and husband George of Carefree, Ariz.; four grandchildren, Russ Miller of O'Fallon, Mo., Molly Marsh of O'Fallon, Mo., Wilson Miller of Denver, Colo., and Katie Miller of Gunnison, Colo.; and four great-grandchildren, Josh Arras, Tyler Miller, Kaden Marsh, and Lani Marsh. She was preceded in death by her parents, and her brother, Jack Wilson. A Celebration of Norma's Life will be held for family and friends from 12:00 noon until 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 10, 2011, at her home on 2403 Hillsdale, Jefferson City, Mo. or call 573-636-4988. Private graveside services will be conducted at a later time. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Samaritan Center.
