Doris M. Morris

Mrs. Doris M. Morris, age 69 years, of Jefferson City, Mo., passed away Thursday, September 23, 2010, at St. Mary's Health Center. Doris was born on December 30, 1940, in Jefferson City, Mo., a daughter of the late Oscar and Helen Shields Koelling. She was married on September 30, 1959, in North Carolina, to James "Jim" W. Morris. A lifelong resident of the central Missouri area, Doris attended St. Peter School. A homemaker, Doris was employed in the food industry at various local nursing homes. She loved to cook and spend time with her family and friends, who enjoyed her homemade noodles. She was a cancer survivor and an avid supporter for Relay for Life. Survivors include: her loving husband of 50 years, James "Jim"; one son, James "Jimmy" Otis Morris of Clinton, Mo.; two daughters, Tammy Louise Johnson and her significant other Bill of Chilhowee, Mo., and Cindy Marie Evers and her husband Francis of Jefferson City, Mo.; two brothers, Tom Koelling and his wife Becky of Kansas City, Mo., and Pete Koelling and his wife Pat of Garden City, Mo.; five grandchildren, Crystal Emrick, Joshua Emrick, Stephanie Morris, Rusty Olson and Trey Olson; and five great-grandchildren, Cheyenne Jones, Alexa Jones, Sadie Jones, Joseph Emrick and Keegan Emrick. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Patsy Sell and Ruby Giesing; and two brothers, Charles Koelling and William Koelling. Visitation will be at Freeman Mortuary from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Monday. A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Monday, September 27, 2010, in the Freeman Chapel with the Reverend Dr. Monte Shinkle officiating. Graveside services and interment will be conducted at Spring Garden Cemetery near Eugene, Mo. Those desiring may make memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society or the Doris Morris Memorial Fund.
