Mr. Cecil E. Clark, age 80 years, of Jefferson City, Mo., died Thursday, October 28, 2010, at the Capital Region Medical Center. Cecil was born February 7, 1930, in Jefferson City, Mo., the son of Junius and Jane V. Roberts Clark. He was married on May 28, 1955, in Jefferson City, Mo., to Dorothy M. Steuber. A lifelong resident of the Jefferson City area, Cecil was a 1949 graduate of Jefferson City High School and later graduated from DeVry University in Chicago, Ill., with an Associates degree in technology. Cecil served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He was employed with the Missouri Highway and Transportation Dept. for 36 years prior to his retirement as a Fabrication Plans Reviewer in 1993. Cecil was a member of the First Christian Church; the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Roy Sone Post 1003; AARP; and the National Rifle Association. He enjoyed playing golf, softball, classic British sports cars, and fishing at the Lake of the Ozarks. Most importantly, he enjoyed time with family. Cecil had a great sense of humor and had a favorite cat named Cookie. Survivors include: his wife of 55 years, Dorothy Clark; one daughter, Janell Wideman and her husband Lonnie of Vienna, Mo.; one son, Edward Clark of Burbank, Calif.; one sister, Frances Grant of North Wilkesboro, N.C.; three grandchildren, Jamie Shelby and her husband Edrick, Michelle "Mac" Garnett and her husband Joe, and Alex Gale and his wife Jamie; and four great-grandchildren, Brenden Puckett, Kade Garnett, Isaiah Shelby, and Jae'la Shelby. He was preceded in death by his parents. Visitation will be at Freeman Mortuary from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m., Monday, November 1, 2010. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, November 2, 2010, in the Freeman Chapel with the Reverend Donald Carter and the Reverend Dean Waters officiating. Graveside services and interment with military honors will be conducted at Riverview Cemetery. Those desiring may make memorial contributions to American Diabetes Association.
