Marvin McDaniel (Veteran)

Mr. Marvin H. McDaniel, age 88 years, of Jefferson City, Mo., died Wednesday, October 6, 2010, at the Capital Region Medical Center. Marvin was born September 8, 1922, in Jefferson City, Mo., the son of Boyd and Winnie Bedsworth McDaniel. He was married on February 9, 1944, in Jefferson City, Mo., to Juanita Gregory. A lifelong resident of the Jefferson City area, Marvin was a 1941 graduate of Jefferson City High School. He attended the Chillicothe Business College, Chillicothe, Mo. He served in the United States Army during World War II in Europe where he received a Purple Heart. Marvin was employed as the Superintendent at the State and Federal Veterans Home in St. James, Mo. for 18 years. He was then employed in public relations with Christian Northwest Hospital in St. Louis, Mo. Later, Marvin was a licensed nursing home administrator with several nursing homes until his retirement. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge; a member of the Moolah Temple, St. Louis, Mo.; a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars; a member of the Disabled American Veterans; and a member of the American Legion, Roscoe Enloe Post 5. Marvin was a avid Cardinal baseball fan. Survivors include: his wife of 66 years, Juanita McDaniel; one daughter, Kay Tudor of St. Charles, Mo.; one grandson, John Kitchens and his wife Amy of Jefferson City, Mo.; one sister-in-law, Elva McDaniel of Jefferson City, Mo.; one brother-in-law, Elmer Gregory of Indiana; two great- grandchildren, Jak Kitchens and Annalyn Kitchens; four nephews, Kevin McDaniel, Larry Gregory, Marvin Gregory, and Brad Gregory; one niece, Joyce Smithmeier; and several great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Carol Doss on February 7, 2001; a twin son and daughter, Robert Rae McDaniel and Nelda Mae McDaniel; and one brother, Clifford McDaniel. Visitation will be at Freeman Mortuary from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m., Saturday, October 9, 2010, with a Masonic Service to be conducted at 9:30 a.m. in the Freeman Chapel. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Saturday in the Freeman Chapel with the Reverend Mark Dumas officiating. Graveside services and interment with military honors will be conducted at Riverview Cemetery. Those desiring may make memorial contributions to Shriners Hospital for Children, St. Louis, Mo.
