Charles Raymond Ray, 72, of Jefferson City, died Wednesday, November 17, 2010, in Jefferson City. He was born on March 8, 1938, in Jefferson City, the son of the late Charles Noel and Evelyn Margaret Dessieux Ray. He was married on February 7, 1980, in Las Vegas, Nevada, to Gladys M. Koehler who died in October, 1997. A 1957 graduate of Jefferson City High School, Mr. Ray was employed with Sims Sheet Metal Company for 14 years. He retired in 1991 as Sheet Metal Department Manager with Missouri Builders, Inc. where he was employed for 21 years. A U.S. Army veteran, Mr. Ray was a member of the Catholic Faith; American Legion; Fraternal Order of Eagles; and Sheet Metal Workers Local 36. He took great delight in teasing and joking with his family, and greatly loved his children and grandchildren of whom he was very proud. Survivors include one son, Charles "Chuck" (Jamie) Ray, Leesville, Louisiana; four daughters, Sheila (Rod) Ponder, Jefferson City; Tina Miles, Jefferson City; Lisa (Harry) Frank, Jefferson City; and Laura (Tim) Frank, Yuma, Arizona; and 11 grandchildren, Vivian Ray, Alison Ponder, Austin Ponder, Lacy (T.J.) Ralston, Nathan Miles, Tyler Miles, Kaley Hughes, Alex Frank, Jacob Frank, Morgan Frank, and Karston Frank. He was preceded in death by his sister, Judy Sallin. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Monday, November 22, 2010, at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home with the Rev. J. David Maher officiating. Burial with military honors will be in California City Cemetery. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Sunday, November 21, at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home with a prayer service at 4:30 p.m. Memorials are suggested to Capital Projects, Inc. (Sheltered Workshop), 2001 E.
