Carl Joseph Scott, 97, of Holts Summit, died Wednesday, May 5, 2010 at Oak Tree Villas in Jefferson City. He was born May 19, 1912, in Osage County, a son of Hugh Elmer and Clara Marie Schreimann Scott. On December 17, 1938, Carl was united in marriage in Jefferson City to Mandy Norma Major, who preceded him in death on February 2, 2005. Carl owned and operated Blue Sky's Roller Rink and Hillcrest Service Station in Holts Summit. He was a charter member of the Holts Summit Civic Association and was a member of Union Hill Baptist Church. One of Carl's favorite pastimes was fishing at Toledo Bend and Lake of the Ozarks. He is survived by one son, Jerel Scott and wife Gayla of Jefferson City; one daughter, Joyce Hartley of Holts Summit; five grandchildren, Carla Schinderling and husband Jon of Quincy, Illinois, Ross Hartley and wife Debbie of Jefferson City, Abbie Scott of Jefferson City, Jason McDonald of Jefferson City, Brice McDonald of Jefferson City; seven great- grandchildren, Madelynn, Caleb, and Bailey Schinderling of Quincy, Illinois, Taryn and Scottie Pritchett of Jefferson City, Claire Hartley of Jefferson City, and Gage McDonald of Jefferson City; and one brother, Rhuel Scott of Tampa, Florida. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Ralph, Howard and Ray Scott; and two sisters, Huetta Detwiler and Wilma Walsh. Friends will be received from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. Sunday, May 9, 2010, at the Houser-Millard Funeral Home, Jefferson City, where funeral services will follow at 3:00 p.m. with Rev. Frank Whitney officiating. Interment will follow in Hawthorn Memorial Gardens. Expressions of sympathy may be made to Union Hill Baptist Church.
