Mary Elizabeth "Liz" Lawson, 88, of Jefferson City, died Saturday, June 26, 2010, at St. Mary's Health Center. She was born on April 23, 1922, in Jefferson City, the daughter of the late Wallace Douglas and Sadie Belle Ellis Lawson. Liz worked for the Missouri Dept. of Revenue from 1949-1984, retiring as a mail clerk. She was a member of Second Baptist Church, the Estella B. Digg Circle, the Doris Nance Circle, and the Maude Johnson Circle. Liz was one of the prominent members of the Usher Board who would meet people at the door in her uniform. Truly a very active servant. Liz was an avid card player who played for fun with her friends and neighbors. Survivors include: cousins, Donetta Calloway, St. Louis; Charlotte Robinson, Michigan; and many more cousins, extended family, and her church family. She will truly be missed. She was preceded in death by one brother, James Wallace Lawson; and three sisters, Rose Mae Lawson, Lucille Smith, and Ruth Lawson. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, July 3, 2010, at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home with Rev. Cornell C. Sudduth Sr., officiating. Burial will be in Longview Cemetery. Visitation will be 10-11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to Second Baptist Church Building Fund, 501 Monroe St., Jefferson City, MO 65101.
