Margaret May

Margaret May, 87, of Jefferson City, passed away Sunday, June 27, 2010, at her home surrounded by her family. She was born December 1, 1922, in Burley, Idaho, a daughter of the late William Alfred and Margaret Roberts Van Engelen. She attended Twin Falls High School in Twin Falls, Idaho and graduated with a degree from the University of Idaho in Moscow, Idaho in 1943. Margaret was a member of the Camp Fire Girls, Kappa Kappa Gamma, P.E.O, and X Club. Margaret married Ralph Didriksen on February 10, 1943. She later married Roland May on March 15, 1996. Survivors include: her five children, Gjerde Dausch and her husband Tom of Pittsburgh, Pa., Dorothy Kult and husband Leroy of Lexington, Ky., William R. Didriksen and wife Judie of Jefferson City, Martha Didriksen and husband Bob Petersen of Seattle, Wash. and Robert A. Didriksen of Jefferson City; one sister, Dorothy Domowitz of Castelford, Idaho; 12 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Bob Van Engelen and Fred Van Engelen; and two sisters, Vatura Gamble and Ruth Sheasley. Margaret grew up in Idaho and began raising her family in the Pacific Northwest. She later moved her family to the East Coast before settling in Jefferson City where she lived for 38 years. Many of her Jefferson City neighbors recall the familiar "Come on over, the pool is open." She was a member of the PEO sisterhood for 65 years, most recently as a member of Chapter BW. She was very active in the Christian Science church serving in a variety of service positions. She founded the Camp Fire Girls council in Olympia, Wash. and was always involved with her children's activities. In addition to her children, her other passions included playing bridge and bird watching. Friends will be received from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Friday, July 2, 2010, at the Houser-Millard Funeral Home, where funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. with Bruce Gardner officiating. Interment will be in Twin Falls, Idaho. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to the charity of donor's choice.
