Michael Smallwood Sr.

Michael M. Smallwood Sr., 55, of Jefferson City, died Wednesday, July 21, 2010, at the University of Missouri Hospital in Columbia. He was born July 2, 1955, in Jefferson City, a son of Richard M. and Betty L. (Gaither) Smallwood. He attended elementary school in Ashland and Jefferson City High School. On July 13, 1974, Michael was united in marriage in Jefferson City to Sheryl Kliethermes, who survives at their home. Michael had worked for Cardwell Moving and Storage and Loethen-Eggen Tire in the early 1970's. Since 1973 he has worked for ABB (formerly Westinghouse), where he was a furnace operator. Michael was an avid NASCAR fan, enjoyed fishing, hunting, bowling and camping, loved his dog Oscar, and most of all loved spending time with his grandchildren. He is also survived by: three children, Michael M. Smallwood Jr., Sonya R. Logan (Dewayne), and Angela S. Smallwood, all of Jefferson City; his parents, Richard M. and Betty L. Smallwood of Hartsburg; seven grandchildren, Shyanne Smallwood, Caylin Smallwood, Kelsee Logan, Ebonee Logan, Shelby Strobel, Trenton Kramer, Brianna Kramer; and seven brothers and sisters, Donnie J. Smallwood of Jefferson City, Donna J. Turpin of Jefferson City, Vicky L. Dorman of Hartsburg, Dora A. Calvin of Ashland, Stanley J. Smallwood of Hartsburg, Sandra K. Carlos of Hartsburg and Cindy J. Sessler of Ashland. Friends will be received from 12:00 to 4:00 p.m. Sunday at the Houser-Millard Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday, July 26, 2010, at the Houser-Millard Funeral Home with Rev. Ron Zamkus officiating. Interment will follow in Hawthorn Memorial Gardens.
