Frank Edward Stilabower, 78, of Jefferson City, passed away Wednesday, December 30, 2009, at his home. He was born May 21, 1931, in Laclede, a son of Frank Stilabower and Marian E. (Groes) Stilabower Allen. Frank graduated from Laclede Public School in 1949. On October 9, 1953, he was united in marriage in Laclede, to Augusta Lark, who survives at the home. Frank retired from Civil Service, having worked at Whiteman Air Force Base. He later worked for the State of Missouri - Department of Corrections for eight years, where he retired early due to his health. He served in the United States Air Force for four years and was honorably discharged on December 28, 1959. Frank was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Windsor. He enjoyed his many friends at the Senior Center and loved to visit with people. For the past 20 years, Frank enjoyed walking at the mall. He will be missed by his family and friends. He is also survived by a son: Craig Stilabower (wife Jennifer) of Jefferson City; a daughter: Pam Stilabower Lyon (husband Arnold) of Kansas City; a granddaughter: Carrington Stilabower of Jefferson City; his mother: Marian Stilabower Allen of Jefferson City; a brother-in-law: Alfred Lark of Laclede; two sisters-in-law: Jean Peacher of Laclede, and Bettie Epperson (husband Max) of Abingdon, Ill.; a cousin: Gary Engberg of Brookfield; several nieces and nephews whom he too was very thankful for. He was preceded in death by his father: Frank Stilabower; his step-father: Ralph Allen; and a sister-in-law: Georgia Lark. Friends will be received from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Monday, January 4, 2010, at the Houser-Millard Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 12:00 p.m. Monday at the Houser-Millard Funeral Home. Interment with full military honors will follow at Hawthorn Memorial Gardens.
