Arthur Anderson

Arthur "Slim" Anderson, age 95, of Tuscumbia, passed away Saturday, December 11, 2010, in Jefferson City. He was born January 26, 1915, in Elston, the son of James Walter Anderson and Sally Philadelphia (McCray) Anderson. He was married June 8, 1940, in Jefferson City, to Mary Agnes Gaither, who preceded him in death on November 16, 2006. He was a manufacturing factory worker and attended Spring Valley Baptist Church of Henley. Survivors include: five daughters, Hazel Witt and her husband Wayne of Barnett, Letha Morgan and her husband Jim of Eugene, Patty Gray and her husband Allen of Eugene, Diann Stark and her husband Dennis of Henley, and Betty Gentry of Eldon; one son-in-law, Joe Gray of Henley; 12 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Mary Agnes Anderson; a daughter, Wanda Gray; a granddaughter, Chrissy Witt; three brothers and three sisters. Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. on Sunday, December 12, at the Phillips Funeral Home, Eldon. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, December 13, at Spring Valley Baptist Church, Henley, with Pastor Bill Martin officiating. Burial will be in the Henley Cemetery, Henley. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Spring Valley Baptist Church.
