James Marvin Litty, 88, of Holts Summit, passed away on Tuesday, November 16, 2021, at St. Joseph's Bluffs. He was born April 26, 1933, in Steelville, Missouri, a son of the late Floyd and Pansy (Starks) Litty. He was united in marriage on July 10, 1954, to Jo Ann Washburn in Steelville. James was a 1951 graduate of Steelville High School. In August of 1952, he joined the United States Army and proudly served as a cook for the officers until his honorable discharge in 1955. He retired from the Callaway Nuclear Power Plant in 1989 as the Superintendent of Personnel and Management Development after 29 years of service. He was a great cook, enjoyed deer hunting, fishing, camping and raising cattle on his beloved farm. He was an avid follower of the stock market and watching Fox News. He enjoyed attending bluegrass and gospel festivals and attended Union Hill Baptist Church. Years ago, he started giving out tootsie rolls to everyone he saw, and lovingly became known as "Grandpa Toots". Most of all, he cherished time spent with his family. The family would like to express their gratitude to the nurses of St. Joseph's Bluffs Neighborhood and to Hospice Compassus, especially Elaina and Naida.
