Richard Lee Holterman

Richard Lee Holterman, age 68, of Freeburg, passed Thursday, November 18, 2021, at Capital Region Medical Center. He was born August 27, 1953, the son of Ferdinand Conrad "Freddie" and Imogene Claire "Ime" (Borgmeyer) Holterman. He was a 1971 graduate of Fatima High School, Westphalia. Richard was united in marriage May 24, 1980, at Bonnots Mill, to Sharon Kay Rotter. Richard was active owner and operator of Holterman Logging, Westphalia, for 51 years. He was the number one log supplier in the United States and shipped wood products throughout the nation and overseas. His company was a major supplier of walnut barrels to distilleries all over the nation. In addition to his day job, Richard and Sharon farmed and raised livestock as one of their passions. Richard is survived by his devoted wife of over 41 years, Sharon; two sisters, Carol (Holterman) Heckman of Westphalia, and Darlene Holterman-Linnenbrink of Morrison; four sisters-in-law and three brothers-in-law, Debbie Holterman of Westphalia, Ruthie (Rotter) Bowen (John) of Bonnots Mill, Helen (Rotter) Libbert (Larry) of Bonnots Mill, and James "Jimmy" Rotter (Karen) of Loose Creek; nephews, nieces, and many other relatives and a host of friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Freddie; his mother, Ime; one brother, Roger James Holterman; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Leo L. Rotter and Mary Catherine "Dude" (Kirsch) Rotter; one sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Catherine Ann (Rotter) Porting and Arthur Theodore "Archie Bunker" Porting. Visitation for Richard Holterman will be held Saturday, November 27, 2021, from 8:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon in Holy Family Catholic Church, Freeburg, with Mass of Christian Burial immediately following at noon with Rev. William D. Debo as the celebrant under the direction of Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home, Vienna. Interment will be in Holy Family Cemetery. Immediately following the Holterman Family extends an invitation to all in attendance to share a meal with them at the American Legion Hall, Freeburg.
