Mrs. Betty L. Schulte, age 80 years, of Jefferson City, Mo., passed away peacefully Thursday, July 29, 2021, at home surrounded by her loving family after a year long battle with cancer. Betty was born on June 14, 1941, in Henley, Mo., a daughter of Elmer William and Clara Margaret Christine (Sommerer) Engelbrecht. She was married on March 16, 1960, in Mary's Home, Mo. to Dennis August "Denny" Schulte, who survives. A lifelong resident of the Honey Creek, Missouri area, Betty went to elementary school at Glendale and later Immanuel Lutheran School in Honey Creek. She was a 1958 graduate of Cole R-V High School in Eugene, Mo. Betty was a homemaker for the majority of her life and cherished the role as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She consistently put family first in life and everyone knew that Betty was there with a gentle word of encouragement, a loving hug, and solid advice. Her support was always genuine because of her true kindness and humility. She was happy to offer up her house to any family, neighbor or friend who needed help babysitting. Family gatherings were her favorite times and she cooked amazing feasts to celebrate birthdays, holidays and other important events to show her love. She was even famous for her coconut cream pie that friends and family will always remember but will never quite be able to duplicate. Betty possessed a strong faith that guided her throughout life. She was an active member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Honey Creek, Mo. She helped as a Sunday school teacher, served in the Women's Group, LWMG, and helped with the braille books mission project. Besides time with family, Betty found peace in her flower garden.
