Jody Lea Hoelscher

Jody Lea Hoelscher, 42, of Lenexa, Kan., passed away on Sunday, May 17, 2020, at Overland Park Medical Center in Overland Park, Kan. Jody was born November 3, 1977, in Jefferson City, a daughter to the late Jerome "Jerry" Hoelscher and Mary (Peters) Hoelscher, who survives in Jefferson City. Jody was a 1996 graduate of Helias High School in Jefferson City and she earned a degree in Criminal Justice from Columbia College. Jody was a member of the Catholic faith. Jody enjoyed working as a nanny, fishing, deer hunting, flower gardening, cooking, traveling, and riding on Segways. Her greatest joy came from spending time with her family and friends. Jody being a very giving person throughout her life continued her giving after her death by being an organ donor. In addition to her mother, Jody is survived by two brothers, Timothy Hoelscher and his wife Sheila of Jefferson City and Alex Hoelscher and his wife Kayla of Linn; nieces and nephews, Landon, Chloe, River and Rowan Hoelscher; and her paternal grandmother, Gladys Fritchley and her husband Tommy of Linn. In addition to her father Jerry, Jody was preceded in death by her paternal grandfather, Harold Hoelscher; maternal grandparents, Pat and Reath Peters; uncles, Jack Peters, JD Peters and Loyd Hoelscher; aunt, Marge Gabelsberger; and a cousin, Darla Nichols. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 23, 2020, at St. George Catholic Church in Linn with a Mass of Christian Burial following at 12:00 p.m. with Rev. Daniel Merz as the Celebrant. Interment will be held at a later date in St. George Parish Cemetery. The general public is welcome to attend the services while following social distancing guidelines. Please stay six feet apart and avoid close contact. Anyone is welcome and must wear personal masks or other personal protective equipment while in attendance. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to the Jody Hoelscher Memorial Fund to help animal shelters. Arrangements are under the direction of Morton Chapel, Linn, Mo.
