Oliver Vernon Farris

Oliver Vernon Farris, 89, of Russellville, was called home on Wednesday, January 15, 2020, at Capital Region Medical Center. He was born to Emil and Ethel (Blank) Farris on August 10, 1930. He was united in marriage on August 4, 1954, to Mary Ann Scheperle who preceded him in death. Vernon served his country in the United States Navy. He was also a school bus driver, mechanic including many years at Tombkins Implement, and a life-long farmer. Survivors include two sons, Toomie (Michael Marcum) Farris, Indianapolis, Ind.; Rick Farris, Russellville; grandchildren, Jamie (Lannie) Sullivan, Jesse (Angela) Farris, Jodi (Mike) Harrison, Shawnee Farris, Alex Marcum; great-grandchildren who where his pride of joy, Lawson Sullivan, Lydia Sullivan, Caden Farris, Dane Farris, Lily Farris, Clayton Harrison, Caleb Harrison; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Mary Ann; two brothers, Clifford and Virgle Farris; great-granddaughter, Grace Farris; and a grandson, Drew Marcum. Special thanks to Donna Farris, Hospice Compassus, and other family members for the extraordinary care provided to Vernon. Visitation will be 3-6 p.m. Sunday, January 19, 2020, at Scrivner-Morrow Funeral Homes in Russellville. Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Monday at Scrivner-Morrow Funeral Homes in Russellville with Rev. Guy Thomas officiating. Burial with military honors will be in Enloe Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Central Missouri Honor Flight. Scrivner-Morrow Funeral Homes in Russellville is in charge of the arrangements.
