Pamela Kay Carsten, 68, of Jefferson City, passed away on Monday, December 30, 2019, at University of Missouri Hospital and Clinics. She was born on August 28, 1951, in San Francisco, California, a daughter of the late John and Kay (Fox) Carsten. She was united in marriage on October 30, 1986, to Richard Gordon at Ha Ha Tonka State Park near Camdenton, Missouri. Pam's father was a medic during World War II and a field representative for the American Red Cross. This background would prove instrumental in the path that Pam would follow thru life. The family moved to France when she was young and Pam was taught French by her caretaker before ever learning English. The family resided in Germany and many, many states before settling in Missouri. Pam graduated from Jefferson City High School. She began her 35 year EMS career in Fenton, Missouri. Pam worked for several agencies during her career including Boone County EMS, Miller County EMS, Still Hospital Ambulance Service, Jefferson City EMS and Cole County EMS. She was a certified flight nurse and spent many hours in the helicopter going from emergency scenes to the hospital. Many days a thankful individual would approach Pam and thank her for saving their life or making a hard situation easier. Pam enjoyed reading western romance novels. She found time to spend in the garden and had her own personal greenhouse. Pam found peace in crocheting and made hundreds of items over the years. She cherished the little ones and made baby blankets for all her co-workers and friends who found themselves with a new bundle of joy. Pam loved spending time with her family and treasured the memories created with them. She is survived by her husband of 31 years, Rich; children: Michael Haslag (Janet) of Linn and Kristina Baker (Bret) of Wardsville; brother: John Carsten of Albuquerque, New Mexico; sister: Christine Bentsen (Mark) of San Antonio, Texas; step-children: Dannell Tyler (Joe) of Eugene and James Gordon (Emily Pankratz) of Brazito; five grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and many family and friends.
