Edwin Earl Hunter, 85, of Holts Summit, passed away on Friday, December 6, 2019, at his residence. He was born on June 7, 1934, in Jefferson City, a son of the late Donald Earl and Alma Alice (Hayden) Hunter. Ed attended Jefferson City Public Schools. He was employed with US and F0 with National Guard. Ed was a retired fire fighter with the City of Jefferson. He was a Fire and Safety Supervisor with the Missouri Department of Corrections at Central Missouri Correctional Center retiring in 1994. Ed is survived by his wife, Waleah; daughter from a previous marriage: Debra Marie Hunter (domestic partner, Jo Lynn Miller) along with their son, Jackson Hunter-Miller of Columbia; step-children: Dana Jobe (Lyle) of Russellville, Jennifer Dampf (Danny) of Russellville and Craig Linhardt (Ann) of Jefferson City; step-grandchildren: Shelby Harrison (Jacob), Kendra Gerloff (Logan), Halie, Molly and Isaac Dampf, Addison, Davis and Lucianna Linhardt; step-great-grandson: Eli James Harrison; brother-in-law: Leland Jungmeyer (Betty) along with nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister: Kathryn Morrow. Friends will be received from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Friday, December 13, 2019, at Houser-Millard Funeral Directors. Funeral Services will follow at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Samuel Powell officiating. Inurnment will immediately follow at Hawthorn Memorial Gardens. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Jefferson City Fire Fighters Local 671 Charity Fund or the Jefferson City Fire Museum.
