LINN — Ashlynn Kliethermes pitched a no-hitter Tuesday night, leading the Eugene Lady Eagles to a 6-0 win against the Dixon Lady Bulldogs in the first round of the Class 2 District 2 Tournament.

Kliethermes struck out 11 of the first 12 batters she faced, opening the game with nine consecutive strikeouts.

Dixon's Maddie Ryan drew a leadoff walk in the top of the fourth inning, but Kliethermes stranded her at first base, retiring the next nine batters to end the game and finishing with 16 strikeouts.

Saylor Haney had an RBI single in the first inning and Katelyn Peterson stole home in the second to give Eugene a 2-0 lead.

The Lady Eagles added four more runs in the sixth, as Shaelyn Boessen hit a two-out, two-run single. The next batter, Sophie Stieferman, reached on an error, scoring two more runs.

Boessen went 2-for-3 with a pair of singles and two RBI. Jordyn Haney, Peterson and Kaylee Kempker each had a double for the Lady Eagles.

Eugene (10-10), the No. 4 seed, will face top-seeded Russellville (19-4) at 4:30 p.m. today in the semifinals.
