Cross Country: Fatima girls third at Invitational

OWENSVILLE - The Fatima Lady Comets finished third as a team in the girls race Tuesday at the Owensville Invitational, while the Comets took fifth in the boys race.

Lauren Berhorst led the Lady Comets with a seventh-place finish in 21:25.2, while Emma Bower took 10th at 22:09.1. Sarah Groene (23:24.1) finished 22nd, Corinn Karst (24:37.7) took 34th and Addyson Wilburs (24:54.8) took 36th for Fatima. Reagan Bock finished 42nd in 25:14, while Megan Borgmeyer took 52nd at 26:31.7 and Lily Gregory placed 54th in 26:33.9 to round out the Lady Comets times.

Tyler Kloeppel led the Comets with a time of 19:18.3 for 24th in the boys race, while Scott Sankey (19:19.8) took 25th, Cody Kampeter (19:32.6) placed 27th and Wyatt Gabelsberger (19:46.8) took 32nd for Fatima.

Brady Hager (20:13.1) took 38th and Gavin Satterfield (20:24.2) rounded out the Comets' times with a 40th-place finish.

Calvary Lutheran had three runners place in the top 15. Kyle Hagemeyer finished fourth with a 5K time of 17:29.71, while Jaxson Jobe finished eighth with a time of 18:20.75. Maddie Homfeldt lead the girls team with a 12th place finish with a time of 22:28.32.

Lars Marion finished 46th for the boys team while Alex Roettgen and Sam Schnitzler rounded out the top five with 56th and 59th place finishes, respectively. Ben Kuhlmann finished 70th while Gage Pavely finished 72nd.

On the girls side, Sonya Brunner was behind Homfeldt with a 16th place finish in 23:08.23. Sydney Morris finished 74th while Kaleigh Kaiser finished 77th. Since the girls team had only four runners, it did not score as a team.

South Callaway placed 10th as a team in the boys' race and was incomplete in the girls portion.

Raegan Brown led the South Callaway girls with a 13th-place finish in 22:33.4, while Alexandra Spence placed 38th in 24:57.7 and Shelby Doster (34:58.4) placed 82nd.

Nathan Russell took the top spot for the South Callaway boys, finishing 36th in 20:03.5, while Dylan Dugan (20:38.4) took 42nd and Cole Brewer (21:28.3) finished 49th. Aaron McDonald placed 55th for South Callaway in 22:02.2, while Tucker Jones (23:08.7) placed 64th, Noah Brower (23:17.9) finished 65th and Ayden Munford (23:49.9) took 68th.

Lighthouse Preparatory Academy took seventh as a team in the girls race and did not have a boys team compete.

Sara Gilbert led the Lighthouse Prep girls with a 26th-place finish in 24:04.5, while Cadence Keeney (24:47.4) took 35th, Rachel Chaney (25:03.3) finished 40th and Tia Bethards placed 50th in 26:26.9. Scout Henry (29:40) and Ashton Bethards (34:58.6) placed 68th and 83rd, respectively, to finish off the Lighthouse Prep times.

Four runners made up the incomplete girls team for Chamois, while only one boy hit the course.

Caleb Keilholz was the lone male runner for Chamois, taking 47th in 21:01.6.

Madeline Gerloff led the Chamois girls with a 29th-place finish in 24:27.7, while Elsey Wuelling (26:13.6) took 48th, Eevie Halbert (30:25.9) placed 70th and Rylee Davis (30:37.8) finished 71st.
