Jefferson City, Capital City and Helias run at Last Chance meet

The Jefferson City, Capital City and Helias track and field teams wrapped up their regular seasons Friday in the Jefferson City Last Chance meet at Adkins Stadium.

Team scores were not recorded in the quad meet, which also included Hickman.

Mikah Edwards of Helias won all four of her events to lead the area athetes.

Edwards won the girls 400-meter dash with a time of 57.77 seconds, breaking the Helias school record of 58.23 seconds set by Hannah Stuckenschneider in 1998. She also won the 100-meter dash (13.03 seconds) and the 200-meter dash (26.12 seconds).

Edwards joined Schyler Phillips, Isabelle Struemph and Sammi Ehmke in the girls 4x200-meter relay, clocking a first-place time of 1:49.19.

Capital City's Kiara Strayhorn was a triple-winner at the meet. On the track, she won the girls 100-meter hurdles by nearly three full seconds, posting a first-place time of 14.29 seconds.

In the field events, Strayhorn won the long jump with a leap of 19 feet, 2 inches, as well as the high jump, clearing the bar at 5-5.

The Helias girls won eight of the 19 events. In individual events, Ava Morrisey won the 800-meter run in 2:34.82, while Alexa Lamb finished first in the 1,600-meter run in 5:55.19.

The Lady Crusaders' remaining two wins were in relay events. In the 4x800, Natalie Schlup, Lamb, Riley Jaegers and Morrisey had a time of 10:35.94, while Beth Luebbert, Morrisey, Allie Kleene and Ehmke had a first-place time of 4:25.14 in the 4x400.

Other winners for the Capital City girls were Kennedy Schanuth in the javelin (117-7.5), Shayla Stewart in the discus (120-7) and Anastasia Koopman in the pole vault (10-0.25).

The Jefferson City Lady Jays won three events. Ezinne Opara took first in the girls triple jump (36-1.25), Kaia Pritchett placed first in the shot put (35-10.5) and Riley Schonhardt took the title in the 300-meter hurdles (49.80 seconds).

The Capital City Cavaliers won nine of 19 events on the boys side, including three relay events.

Ethan Wood, Connor Hull, Emmanuel Borde-Koufie and Cameron Harrison won the 4x100 in 44.65 seconds.

TJ Dyer, Hull, Harrison and Keion Grieve won the 4x200 in 1:33.23.

Harrison, Hull, Dyer and Grieve won the 4x400 in 3:27.07.

On the track, the Cavaliers had first-place finishes from Sincere Davis in the 400 (53.94 seconds), Dyer in the 300 hurdles (41.57 seconds) and Grieve in the 800 (2:00.71).

In the field events, Colton Sheehan won the triple jump (38-3.5), Sam Albert won the discus (137-5.25) and Mathew Boyer won the javelin (149-5) for the Capital City boys.

The Jefferson City Jays had a pair of individual winners at their home meet. Parker Gourley took first in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 16.49 seconds, while Bryson Briggs won the shot put with a throw of 49-0.75.

The Helias Crusaders won the boys 4x800, with Payton Kirchhoff, Brady Voss, Ethan Wilson and Noah Voss clocking a first-place time of 8:35.92.
