Tim Rulo is returning to Mid-Missouri.

It was announced Thursday that Rulo would be the new head football coach at Russellville High School.

Rulo has been a head football coach for the past 13 years, with stops at South Callaway, Helias and Chillicothe.

After going 4-7 in his first year at Chillicothe, Rulo led the Hornets to a 9-3 record and a spot in the Class 3 District 8 title game in 2019. The Hornets were 3-8 last season. Rulo stepped down from that position in late January.

Rulo replaces Roger VanDeZande, who stepped down after the Indians finished 0-8 last season, their first as a varsity program.

In addition to the position of head football coach, Rulo will serve as strength coach, assistant track and field coach and leadership course teacher at Russellville.

Russellville will be hosting a introduction meeting next Tuesday for all players, parents and community members to meet Rulo. The event will begin at 6:30 p.m. in the high school gym.
