Helias defeats Cape Girardeau: Notre Dame to win Houlihan's Invitational

SPRINGFIELD - The Helias Crusaders won the Houlihan's Invitational for a second straight season, finishing the three-day tournament Saturday with a 68-52 win against the Cape Girardeau: Notre Dame Bulldogs.

It was the fourth win in five days for the Crusaders, who defeated Fatima on Tuesday before winning three games in three days at the Invitational.

Helias was ahead 21-11 at the end of the first quarter and continued to lead by double digits after that. The Crusaders held a 34-22 advantage at halftime and added 24 points in the third quarter to lead 58-42 going into the fourth quarter.

Malcolm Davis scored a team-high 22 points for the Crusaders and Desmond White chipped in 12 points.

Cape Girardeau: Notre Dame (10-4) is ranked No. 6 in Class 5.

Helias (9-2) plays next Friday at Rolla.
