CALIFORNIA - The Southern Boone Eagles scored 24 points in third quarter Saturday, pulling away to a 70-54 win against the Capital City Cavaliers in the third-place game of the California Tournament.
Southern Boone led 20-15 at the end of the first quarter and 36-30 at halftime. However, the Eagles outscored the Cavaliers by 14 points in the third quarter, stretching their lead to 60-40 entering the fourth.
Blake Meredith, who was named to the all-tournament team, led the Cavaliers with 18 points and Corde Brown finished with 13 points.
Capital City (8-6) will host Hermann on Tuesday. The JV game starts at 6 p.m., followed by the varsity at 7:30 p.m.
