Boys Basketball: William Chrisman 71, Jefferson City 69

INDEPENDENCE - The Jefferson City Jays opened the Phog Allen Invitational on Thursday with a 71-69 loss in overtime to the host William Chrisman Bears.

William Chrisman led 15-11 after one quarter and 28-22 at halftime. However, the Jays outscored the Bears 20-11 in the third quarter to lead 42-39 entering the fourth.

William Chrisman scored at the buzzer to send the game to overtime. The Bears made the winning basket with about four seconds remaining in overtime.

Kevion Pendelton had a team-high 14 points for the Jays, followed by Steven Samuels with 13 points. Exavier Wilson and Jordan Martin each added 11 points.

Jefferson City (1-1) will play Rock Bridge in the loser's bracket semifinals at 5 p.m. today. Rock Bridge (1-1) lost 57-56 to Lee's Summit North in the first round Thursday.
