Boys Basketball: Smithton 82, Russellville 70

TIPTON - The Russellville Indians had their two-game winning streak snapped Thursday, falling to the Smithton Tigers 82-70 in the semifinals of the Tipton Tournament.

The first quarter proved to be the difference with Smithton taking a 29-14 lead after eight minutes. The Tigers held 44-32 advantage at halftime and led 58-44 through three quarters.

Jesse Daniel scored a team-best 18 points for Russellville. Jake Schulte had 11 points and Alex Oligschlaeger also reached double figures with 10 points.

Tom Tripp scored 34 points for top-seeded Smithton (4-0).

Russellville (2-2), the No. 4 seed, will play second-seeded Vienna in the third-place game at 3:30 p.m. Saturday.
