Prep Softball: California 9, Eugene 1

CALIFORNIA, Mo. - The California Lady Pintos won their fifth straight game Monday, defeating the Eugene Lady Eagles 9-1.

Camryn Schlup pitched a two-hitter for the Lady Pintos, allowing one unearned run in the top of the first inning. She finished with three walks and nine strikeouts.

California tied the score in the bottom of the first, then took the lead for good with three more runs in the third. A four-run fifth extended the lead to 8-1.

Ellie Clay hit a solo home run in the bottom of the sixth for the Lady Pintos. She went 2-for-4 with a single in the third.

Ella Percival had a single and a double for California, while Grace Dampf added a pair of singles. Lauren Hill had a team-best two RBI.

Ashlynn Kliethermes' RBI single in the first was one of Eugene's two hits. Katelyn Peterson had the other with a single in the fifth.

Maggie Stieferman was the losing pitcher for the Lady Eagles. In four innings, she allowed four runs on six hits and walked two.

California (8-1) hosts Versailles today in its Tri-County Conference opener.

Eugene (0-3) hosts Eldon today.
