Boys Basketball: Versailles 117, Eugene 106

EUGENE - The Eugene Eagles and the Versailles Tigers combined to score 62 points in the fourth quarter, as Versailles won Tuesday's shootout 117-106 against Eugene.

Versailles led 22-21 after one quarter, but Eugene answered by taking a 57-31 lead at halftime. The Eagles continued to hold an 81-80 advantage through three quarters, but the Tigers scored 37 points in the game's final eight minutes.

Garret Robinett led Eugene with a double-double of 30 points and 12 rebounds, while Tyler Renn scored 26 points. Javan Steinhardt finished with 12 points, Justin Lepper added 11 points and Kyle Bond scored 10 points.

Versailles, which made 23 3-pointers in the win, also had five players score in double figures, led by Seth Newton with 30 points. Mikhail Gulyayev scored 15 points, Tyrus Ollison chipped in 14 points and Michael Bell and Ryder Williams each had 10 points.

Eugene (0-2) will host Tuscumbia on Monday in the first round of the Eugene Tournament.

Versailles (1-0) will face Southern Boone in the first round of the Tri-County Conference Tournament next Tuesday at Blair Oaks.
