LINN — The St. Elizabeth Hornets moved one step closer to securing a second straight Show-Me Conference title Thursday, beating the Linn Wildcats 66-42.

St. Elizabeth led 14-7 after one quarter and 33-15 at halftime. Linn closed the gap to 49-36 by the end of the third quarter, but the Hornets won the scoring battle 17-6 in the final eight minutes to secure their 10th straight win.

Ross Struemph scored a game-high 20 points to lead the Hornets, while Nolan Heckemeyer finished with 15 points.

Alek Peters and Parker Patterson each scored 12 points for the Wildcats, each making four 3-pointers.

St. Elizabeth (18-5, 6-1 Show-Me), ranked No. 4 in Class 1, wraps up the regular season next Thursday at New Bloomfield. A win clinches the Hornets at least a share of the conference title, as Eugene and Fatima each have one loss in conference play.

Linn (14-6, 3-2 Show-Me) hosts Chamois today.
